Hello - and welcome to my website.

If you find yourself here I imagine that you are struggling with something in your life at the moment. Whether you are experiencing depression, anxiety, relationship, childhood or self esteem difficulties or just a sense of unease, I am a mature, compassionate, fully qualified and insured BACP registered psychotherapist and counsellor with a profound understanding of human suffering. I have worked within the field of science communication for over 20 years and believe that therapy is a synthesis of both art and science.

The therapeutic relationship is unlike any other. It is not the same as talking to a friend or even a GP. The process of sharing difficult experiences with a trained professional who is attuned to your unique history, relationships and needs can help make sense of struggles which might otherwise be confusing or overwhelming. This process can help to resolve specific difficulties as well as more intangible feelings that something just doesn't feel 'right'.

I am an integrative therapist which means that I draw on a number of different approaches to support our work together based on your individual needs. I currently work with clients in the NHS but I also see clients privately. I offer individual, weekly or fortnightly therapy to people over 18 years old.

If you are looking for short or longer term remote counselling and therapy then please read on or press the 'testimonials' button to hear from other clients themselves.

Following an initial free 20 minute consultation to determine if we are a good 'fit', we would agree an initial schedule of sessions - usually 8 - 12 weeks - after which we can discuss the option of further sessions. Each session lasts 50 minutes during which time I will help you to express and explore your concerns and we will work together towards meaningful change.

I am a relational integrative therapist with a background in humanistic, psychodynamic and compassion focussed therapies and a focus on the therapeutic relationship. I was awarded Distinction for a three year masters degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy and achieved a First-class honours for a BA in Applied Psychology. I work with many areas of distress including:

  • Addiction

  • Affairs & betrayals

  • Anger

  • Anxiety

  • Bereavement

  • Bullying

  • Confidence issues

  • Burnout

  • Creative/life blocks

  • Depression

  • Emotional difficulties

  • Identity problems

  • Interpersonal issues

  • Relationships

  • Self-esteem

  • Separation and divorce

  • Sexuality

  • Workplace stress

Prior to training as a therapist, I was a BBC Producer/Director specialising in psychology documentaries, notably the long-running BBC1 series 'Child of Our Time' with Professor Robert Winston. I continue to work with media organisations in my capacity as a member of the British Psychological Society's (BPS) Media Ethics Advisory Group.

As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I am committed to ongoing CPD (Continuing Professional Development) and supervision of my clinical practice. I abide by the BACP's 'Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions' and am also a member of the British Psychological Society.

I am also a qualified Mental Health First Aider and Samaritan.
